Ubuntu BETA 20.10 (Groovy Gorilla) Daily Build

As you already know Ubuntu has just released a new developer version, and although it has not been as revolutionary as other previous versions, it is still a very good option to choose since I myself was able to test the trial version that Ubuntu has just launched from version 20.04 LTS with its development version 20.10 dev, called Ubuntu Groovy.

We must clarify a few things about this development version that canonical is providing us, since it presents some severe failures of which after having investigated a little and having experimented on my own computer I could get to solve it, the problems I will mention in the next section, as well as the solution to whose error or misconfiguration I mentioned earlier.

Another very important thing, and that is that I have noticed that there are not many changes, let's say, at a static level, absolutely no difference is noticed at least I could not differentiate very well the stable version from the beta version. With nothing more to say or at least for now, let's continue to display the list of errors or inconveniences as you want to call it.

  1.  Problems with the WiFi driver, when installing the development version called Ubuntu Groovy version 20.10, for one reason or another the driver that comes with Ubuntu 20.04 is eliminated.
  2.  The repositories are not fully stable yet.
  3.  As is to be expected, with any release, there are some significant known bugs that users may run into with this release of Ubuntu. The ones we know about at this point (and some of the workarounds), are documented here so you don’t need to spend time reporting these bugs again.

The problem of the wifi driver can be installed as follows: First we must install Ubuntu 20.14 LTS (Focal Fossa), then when we have the stable version of Ubuntu installed we proceed to update, second step: it is to set the update configuration of 'lts 'to' normal 'as in the following image.

After that we save the changes and proceed to execute the following command that I will show you below:

[ sudo update-manager -d ]

and the update will start.

Ubuntu usually releases its development versions three or six months before officially launching it and that is so that the community can help correct the errors that can be found in that version, that is why Ubuntu is categorized as one of the most stable Linux distributions and therefore more used, I hope the tutorial has served you, do not forget to comment on any questions you have.
